How to compose a new puzzle
The compose screen lets you build your own custom word-guessing puzzle and share it with anyone via a link — no account needed. Your puzzle is encoded directly in the URL, so there’s nothing to save and links never expire.
Fields
- Category (optional)
- A broad theme shown immediately. Leave blank to show the hint from the start. Maximum 100 characters.
- Hint (optional)
- A short clue shown above the board. With a category, a circled question mark appears after 20 seconds: tap it to reveal the clue. Without a category, the clue appears immediately. Use it to add flavour, a theme, or a nudge in the right direction — but don’t give too much away. Maximum 100 characters.
- Puzzle words
- The words players must uncover, entered separated by spaces (e.g.
RIVER DELTA FLOOD). Each word appears as its own row of blank tiles on the board. Shorter words are guessed faster; longer words give players more of a challenge. Very long words wrap across rows on the board. Maximum 200 characters total. - Incorrect guesses (slider)
- Sets how many wrong letter guesses a player gets before the stack fills and the game ends. The stack preview updates live as you drag. Lower values make the puzzle harder — 3 is brutal, 6 is a reasonable default, 12–15 is very forgiving.
Generating & sharing
Once you’re happy, hit Create URL. A shareable link will appear below the button — copy it and send it however you like (message, email, social media). Anyone who opens the link plays your exact puzzle. Hit Reset at any time to clear everything and start fresh.
Keyboard tip
Tap or click a field to choose where letters go. Use the controlled on-screen keyboard, or a physical keyboard on desktop, to enter the puzzle text.
Tower of Letters: Free Daily Word Puzzle Game
Guess letters, reveal hidden words, and solve today's puzzle before wrong guesses stack up.
So what is this?
Tower of Letters is a free daily word puzzle game inspired by classic letter guessing games. Instead of a stick figure, wrong guesses build a stack of blocks. Each incorrect letter adds another block. Let the stack fill up and the game is over.
Each day brings a brand-new set of hidden words. Press letters on the keyboard to guess — correct letters are revealed on the board, wrong ones add to the stack. Race to uncover every word before you run out of guesses.
Your progress is saved automatically, so you can close the tab and come back later without losing your place. Once the daily puzzle is solved (or lost), it resets the next day.
Three ways to play
There are three difficulty levels available every day — Easy, Medium, and Hard. Each one is a completely independent puzzle, so you can tackle all three in a single sitting or spread them across the day.
As the difficulty rises, the words get trickier and the hints get vaguer. Hard mode is designed to be a genuine challenge — no hand-holding!
Each difficulty level tracks its own streak: the number of consecutive days you've solved that puzzle without missing a day. Your streak for each level is shown on screen after a win — can you keep all three alive at once?
Compose your own puzzle
Want to stump a friend, set a puzzle for your team, or create a themed challenge? Switch to Compose mode using the button at the top of the game screen. Here's how it works:
- Write a hint — an optional clue that players will see above the board. Keep it cryptic enough to be fun, but fair enough not to be frustrating.
- Enter your words — type the words that make up your puzzle, separated by spaces. Each word becomes a separate row on the board. You can use as many words as you like.
- Set the stack height — use the slider to choose how many wrong guesses are allowed before the stack is full and the game ends. Lower means harder!
- Hit Compose URL — the game generates a unique shareable link for your puzzle. Copy it and send it to anyone.
Anyone who opens your link is dropped straight into your custom game — no account or sign-up needed. Their progress is saved locally on their device, just like the daily puzzles.
Custom puzzles don't expire, so you can share the same link days or weeks later and it will still work.
