Who we are

GamesNPuzzles is the controller of personal information described in this policy. You can contact the site operator through the contact page.

Browser storage

If you choose to save progress, the game stores puzzle state locally on your device so you can close the page and return later. This includes the selected difficulty, guessed letters, tower state, streak value, and custom puzzle state where applicable. If you decline, progress is kept only in memory for the current tab.

Your analytics choice is stored in local storage for up to six months. This is necessary to remember whether you allowed or refused optional analytics.

Cookies

The contact form uses a short-lived cookie called ltg_contact_captcha. It stores a signed check value so we can verify the anti-spam question when the form is submitted. It expires after 10 minutes, is only sent to /contact-message, and is not used for tracking.

If you allow Google Analytics, Google may set analytics cookies such as _ga. Google Analytics does not load until you choose Allow.

Aggregate site statistics

Google Cloud hosts the site and processes technical request information needed to deliver and secure it, such as the requested page, time, response status, IP address, user agent and referrer where supplied by the browser.

We use a Google Cloud log-based counter to total successful page requests by URL path. It does not use cookies or an account identifier and does not attempt to identify unique people. Query strings, static assets and API requests are excluded. Individual Cloud Run request records are excluded from the default log store after the aggregate counter is calculated. We use these totals for the legitimate interests of understanding site use, maintaining the service and improving its content.

Optional Google Analytics

Google Analytics is off by default and loads only after you choose Allow. It may collect pages visited, approximate location, browser and device information, referring pages and analytics identifiers. Shared-puzzle query strings are not sent to Google Analytics.

Our legal basis is your consent. Advertising storage, ad personalisation and Google signals are disabled. You can change your choice at any time through Analytics choices in the footer. Withdrawing consent stops future collection on this site and removes accessible Google Analytics cookies. Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months; aggregate reports may be kept longer.

Contact messages

If you use the contact form, your email address and message are processed so we can read and answer your request. We rely on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries and operating the service, or on taking steps at your request where your message concerns an agreement. Messages are delivered by our email provider and are normally deleted within 12 months unless they are needed longer for legal, security or abuse-prevention reasons. Do not include sensitive information.

Custom puzzles

The server processes the clue and answer you submit to create an encrypted puzzle link, but it does not keep a database record of the puzzle. The encrypted puzzle and game state are carried in the URL, so anyone with the link can open it. Do not put personal or sensitive information in a custom puzzle or share a puzzle link publicly unless you are comfortable with everyone seeing its contents.

Service providers and international transfers

Google Cloud hosts the site and provides aggregate request metrics, Google Analytics provides optional consent-based analytics, and an email provider delivers contact messages. These providers process information on our behalf and may process it outside the United Kingdom. Where required, transfers use applicable adequacy regulations or contractual safeguards.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your personal information, object to processing, receive portable data, and withdraw consent. Contact us through the contact page to exercise a right. You may also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

We will update this page when our data practices or legal requirements change. The date above shows when it was last revised.
